Laborer – Entry Level
Highway Department Laborer
Entry Level, Full-Time
May include, but not be limited to, a variety of manual labor tasks associated with road, storm drain and right-of-way maintenance including the operation of vehicles and hand/power tools. Power equipment may include chain saws, pneumatic compactors, weed eaters, etc. Duties may include shoveling and raking of road materials, assisting with traffic control and work zone safety set-up, assisting with erection of road signage, and assisting with repairs/maintenance of roads and bridges. May clean and prepare work sites, dig trenches, trim tree limbs, clean up rubble and debris and other duties associated with employment as a laborer at a Highway Department. Successful applicants must report for work at 6am Monday through Thursday. Normal work days end at 4pm. The Madison County Highway Department is closed on Fridays.
Must be able to operate hand/power tools effectively. Must be able to work well and communicate with the public and with co-workers.
High School graduate. Valid Tennessee Driver’s License.
Based on experience.
