The Ballpark at Jackson was built by the City of Jackson and is the home of the Jackson Generals of the Southern League. The Jackson Generals are a Minor League Baseball team of the Southern League and the Double-A affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks.
The Jackson Generals were founded in 1998 as the West Tennessee Diamond Jaxx. The team was a Cubs' affiliate until 2007. In 2007, the Diamond Jaxx began a major league affiliation with the Seattle Mariners. In 2010, the team rebranded as the Jackson Generals. After the 2016 season, the team announced it had agreed to a four-year player development contract with the Arizona Diamondbacks and the team has been affiliated with the Diamondbacks since.
The Diamond Jaxx won their first Southern League title in 2000. In 2012, the Generals had the best record in the Southern League and made it all the way to the Southern League Championship Series. And in 2016, the team won its second league championship.
The Ballpark at Jackson is a 6,000 seat Minor League Baseball stadium located east of downtown Jackson and is visible from Interstate 40. It also hosts events such as concerts.
According to General Manager, Nick Hall, “The Generals are happy to be a source of family-friendly entertainment at an affordable price for families across West Tennessee. Every weekend during the summer, we see fans from all across West Tennessee and the surrounding states make their way into Jackson for a ballgame. Fans travel and spend a whole day in Jackson shopping and eating while ending their night with a ballgame and fireworks."
