Kirkland Cancer Center

The Alice and Carl Kirkland Cancer Center was opened by West Tennessee Healthcare in January of 2010 after a gift to the West Tennessee Healthcare Foundation. The center is named for the Kirklands, a Jackson family who wanted Madison County and the surrounding region to have access to the best treatment closer to home. Carl Kirkland said that he and his family decided to support the cancer center at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital because it would have the biggest impact on the region’s quality of life with a state-of-the-art, first-class facility with the latest technology – all available in Jackson.

The Kirkland Cancer Center is designed with the patient in mind, providing a supportive, easy-to-access environment in a private, secluded setting. The $34 million facility is the largest comprehensive cancer center in the region and integrates many aspects of care to provide patients and their families with a sense of comfort.

“Part of the mission of the Kirkland Cancer Center is to help patients and their families navigate the journey from diagnosis to treatment and make the best individual choices possible,” said Gina Myracle, Executive Director of the Kirkland Cancer Center.

Myracle also said that the functionality of the Kirkland Cancer Center encourages a team approach to cancer care and allows health careproviders to work together more cohesively to offer the very best comprehensive cancer care available, close to home.
